Terrazzo Like Vitreous Enamel
We use jewelry to accentuate our taste in beauty and elegance.
In the same matter architects choose to use marble and terrazzo to highlight the beauty of the building’s elements.
Let’s make some interesting parallels in that matter and compare one particular jewelry style to terrazzo floors.
Vitreous Enamel aka porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing fumed glass powder to a formed molds. Applying extremely high temperature directly to it the powder melts, becomes liquidy and controlable before it hardens to a glossy and densified vitreous layer. The word comes from the Latin vitreum, which means glass.
Terrazzo
Terrazzo is material made by combining approximately 1/4″ marble chips with cement or resin epoxy into flowing consistency mix which is poured into substrate to cure and harden into solid surface.
