At Pinnacle Stone Restoration, we pride ourselves on travertine floor refinishing and revitalizing spaces to showcase their inherent beauty. And our project at Woodland Academy Of Sacred Heart is a testament to this commitment.
Five years ago, we were tasked with refurbishing the main entrance's travertine flooring—a sprawling 3500 square foot area initially installed with traditional 1/8" grout joints.
Upon our initial assessment, we noticed the travertine was coated with wax, which diminished its natural allure.
To restore and enhance the floor, we employed our signature 8+ System, a revolutionary seamless floor system that involves an intricate process of grout replacement and leveling.
The 8+ System Refinishing Process:
1. Grout Replacement: The existing grout was carefully cut out and replaced with a specially formulated epoxy resin that matches the color of the travertine, ensuring a uniform appearance.
2. Surface Leveling: After the resin cured, we used a metal bond diamond disc system to grind the floor surface.
This crucial step removed any lippage, ensuring that the transition between tiles was imperceptible, even to touch.
This meticulous process resulted in a seamless, smooth surface that not only looks visually stunning but is also practical. Seamless floors, like the one at Woodland Academy, are significantly easier to maintain. Without distress in the grout joints and low spots, dirt and grime have no place to accumulate.
When we revisited the floor three years post-refinishment, it showed minimal wear and tear, maintaining its pristine condition and appearance.
